Our dialup accounts are designed for "interactive access" and require that a "living human" be actually at the console of the machine dialed into the net through NetK2NE. It is also required that the "living human" be using the connection while the machine is dialed in.
There are timers on all our modems at all our POPs to guard against inactivity. These are nominally set for fifteen minutes. We say "nominally" because we have yet to see a computer clock that is "dead-on accurate" although most are very close.
If you are dialed in and if you "do nothing" for more than fifteen minutes you will be automatically disconnected. This does not give you a "bad mark" or anything silly like that. The only reason we do this is to economize the use of the modem pool so that the most people can get online at any one time.
Now, it is very easy to be logged in and "do nothing" for fifteen minutes and not even realize it. Let's face it - most folks are not "lightning-speed typists" and composing an email can be a chore - and one which can easily run past 15 minutes.
While you are typing an email message (into something like Pegasus, Eudora, or Outlook Express) no data passes through your modem and your machine appears idle to the network. If you take longer than 15 minutes to type your message, you will find yourself offline when you finish. This is not a problem. Just dial back in - check for new email - then send your outgoing message.
It is also very easy to have 15 minutes fly by un-noticed while you are reading a particularly interesting web-page, particularly if you decide to print out the page. Again - you might end up disconnected and, again, the "cure" is to simply dial back in.
Please try to remember that our dialup accounts are not designed to be a dedicated ("always on") connection to the internet. And if you have any questions, it is strongly advised that you read our Usage and Billing Policy, which you can find at
and if you still have any questions, please email for a clarification.
And in advance, we thank you for your cooperation and support!

We are not a part of this - yet - but the possibility is rather intriguing, as it does present a method for allowing our users to pay for their internet services via credit card without all the usual mess of "merchant accounts" and the like.

This program also does not apply to commercial account referrals, however we are always willing to pay a generous finder's fee (commission) to anyone who brings us a commercial account.
With the exception of our dialup number in Browns Mills, all of our "old-style" dialup numbers are going away - in fact most of them have already been decommissioned.
All of the national numbers support 56k and ISDN.
